Job Summary:
Willis Custom Yachts Marine Mechanics are responsible for installing, inspecting, repairing, and replacing mechanical, propulsion, steering and hydraulic systems on vessels. They are also responsible for the repair and maintenance A/C and plumbing systems.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections, maintenance and repair of marine equipment and vessels.
Diagnose mechanical system problems and determine necessary repairs.
Inspect propulsion systems and determine proper repair methods.
Perform rigging and removal of shafts and rudders.
Remove / install propellors; die check and dial indicate shaft tapers.
Disconnect / reconnecting couplings from shaft and output flange of transmission.
Perform engine alignments.
Replace cutlass bearings.
Removal and replacing of seacocks, ball valves and hoses.
Inspect, remove, and replace seals.
Test and diagnose steering systems and hydraulics.
Perform repairs on vessel plumbing systems including fresh, grey and black water systems.
Inspect struts and rudders and perform necessary repairs.
Removal and replacement of generators and the rigging.
Perform work on steering systems, hydraulic systems, cylinders, and rudder bearings.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment or marine mechanical experience.
Knowledge of marine mechanical equipment and systems.
Knowledge of all running gear and drive lines.
Knowledge of cutlass bearings, shaft seals and the removal of.
Understanding of blueprints and drawings of systems and layouts.
Able to maneuver and fit in confined spaces while working with heavy equipment.
Knowledge of A/C plumbing on vessels in order to hook up cooling tower.
